"The Girls" Collage

"The Girls" Purses -
I found these amazing wood purse blanks at a craft show. I
collaged the background with pages from romance novels. I
painted over these pages but kept some of the phrases from
each page showing. I then drew the girls on with glue to
give them a raised embossed look and then painted on their
details. The "girls" just seemed to say "put me here", "put
me there" -- so I did! They are fun and quirky! Also, I
created my own bead handles 'cause the original handles were
really boring! Oh one more thing, I also painted the inside
of each purse. |

Blue
& Purple "The Girls" Purse Whether you carry this purse to get some looks or display it for some attitude, these girls are ready to hit the spotlight! One side is painted blue and features my brown-haired girl and the other side is painted purple and features blondie. Each side is scattered with romance novel words. Purple & Orange "The Girls" Purse Bright in color and sassy in style this girls purse is all about fun and friendship. One side is painted purple and features a black-haired girl and the other is bright yellow/orange with a brown-haired girl. Topped with a crystal, bumpy, bright and F-U-N beaded handle, the theme for this purse is all about girl stuff. Phrases include "You can laugh", "Are you all right?" and "Sit down and talk". The
Dreamer This piece of artwork started with pages from a romance novel collaged on canvas. The small phrases I kept from being painted are quirky and fun and will make you smile. The girl is drawn on in glue which gives this piece the effect of being embossed. The jewelry is from my own collection. When I was little, I wanted to toe dance so bad! My dance teacher said I couldn't because of the arch on my foot. Her words hurt so. Whether we wanted to be a dancer or had any other dream, make sure you make your dream a reality and for me, it's a reminder to never stop dancing. Who cares about those darn arches anyway! Flower Girl This piece of artwork started with pages from a romance novel collaged on canvas. The small words peek through the painted background. The girl and flowers are drawn on in glue which gives this piece the effect of being embossed. Swarovski crystals and jewelry from my own collection seem to make her shine. I think we all shine! I've
Lost My Marbles This piece of artwork started with pages from a romance novel collaged on canvas. I leave bits and pieces of the phrases of the story peeking through the painting and stenciling. My jewelry is adding another dimension of me into my art! It's quirky! It's fun! Just a reminder . . . it's OK to lose your marbles. In fact, it's downright beautiful!
